About PZWC
Physicists on Zoom Without Coffee is a space for interviews that probably wouldn't be published elsewhere, for a variety of reasons.
PZWC was born out of frustration on my part that in the course of my reporting, I was essentially leaving fascinating, enlightening conversations to collect dust after excising a few choice quotes from them. Not unlike the way orcas eat shark livers.
It's true that there are already interviews with scientists out there. The occasional Q&A, the more in-depth oral history, perhaps an interview with a conspiracy-addled podcast host. None of these really scratch the itch.
My goal is simply to speak with physicists about their work. It is not to create tidy or pretty packaged narratives—though I will do my best to keep it from being too messy. There will be relatively little handholding; no reminders that photons are particles of light, but maybe a link to the wiki for N = 4 Supersymmetric Yang–Mills theory.
My hope is that these interviews fill a vacancy, and that a few people find them interesting, amusing—perhaps even useful.
For now, everything on the site is free. My aim is to add a new interview every week. We'll see how successful I am.
